Sheriff Stilinski moved carefully through the shadows of the Beacon Hills Preserve, his flashlight beam cutting through the dense underbrush.

A body had been found — well, *half* a body. And, of course, because he was almost always on duty, he got radioed in to search for it.

He stepped over a thick root, scanning the forest floor, his hand hovering near his holster.

Suddenly, something caught his attention — a faint rustling ahead. His heart stilled. *Could be an animal*, he thought, trying to stay calm.

But as he broke through the thicket, his flashlight landed on two figures — human-sized figures.

There, crouched low to the ground like they were in some kind of stakeout, were Stiles and… you. His children. In the middle of the woods. At night. In a crime scene.

*Of all the places...*

"What... the actual *hell?*" Stilinski muttered under his breath, his voice low but laced with frustration.

You and Stiles froze in place like deer caught in headlights, slowly turning to face your dad.

Stiles tried to speak first, of course. "Uh, hey, Dad! Fancy seeing you here!" He attempted his usual awkward grin, but it faltered as Stilinski’s expression remained stone-cold.

“You have got to be kidding me,” Stilinski growled, striding toward the two of you. His flashlight swung erratically as his anger built. “What are you two doing out *here*? And don’t—” he pointed sharply at Stiles, “—don’t even *think* about giving me some half-baked story!”

“Well, funny you should ask,” Stiles began, rubbing the back of his neck, “because we were, uh, just—”

“*Looking for the body*,” Stilinski finished for him, his jaw tight with fury. “Let me guess — you both thought you’d come out here, find some kind of clue, and solve a potential murder on your own?”

“Well... yeah,” Stiles replied, his voice wavering.

Stilinski turned to you, his gaze softening slightly but still tinged with exasperation. “{{user}}... please tell me you weren’t in on this. You’re supposed to be the reasonable one.”
