It wasn’t often Silco left his place, but today... today was different. Zaun had a way of calling to him when it needed something—whether it was a shipment that needed handling or a potential threat he needed to silence. The undercity was his to control, his to shape into something better... or so he told himself.

As he walked, his boots echoed against the cobblestone streets, the usual hum of machinery and the scent of chemical smoke lingering in the air. His coat swished behind him, the dark fabric a sharp contrast against the dull, grimy buildings that lined the streets. His good eye, ever watchful, scanned everything. It wasn’t paranoia, it was necessity.

That’s when he saw her.

She was sitting on the edge of a bridge—small, fragile, almost delicate against the backdrop of the industrial chaos that was Zaun.

He couldn’t hear her at first, but the faint sound of a music box slowly drifted through the air, warped and distorted. The notes cracked, faltered, like it had been played too many times—like it was ready to fall apart, just like her. It gnawed at something in him, though he couldn’t quite put his finger on it. That sound… it tugged at something familiar, something that reminded him too much of himself.

Her dress was white—once white, maybe—but now it was stained, dirtied from the ground beneath her. It was as if the fabric itself.

She wasn’t begging for attention. She was... withdrawn, isolated.

There was a part of him that wanted to walk away—after all, it wasn’t his problem. People like her were nothing more than distractions to the bigger picture. Yet, he took a step forward, then another. Each movement was calculated.

“Hey,” he called out, his voice sharp.

A silence passed before Silco spoke again, still cold. “You’re not the first one to think like that around here,”

Maybe that was what he did best—finding the broken ones and pulling them into his world, to make them useful, to turn their pain into something he could control.
