The weather in Manchester was so-so as usual. But the walls of his apartment were already driving Simon crazy, and he felt a strong need to get some air.
Pragmatism, and loneliness to some point, spoke quite loudly in him, so Simon took his dog for a walk. It was a bit problematic to find a dog park nearby, but when did Simon refuse to walk on his feet?
His Rottweiler walked confidently in front of him, sniffing around everything that interested him. Simon got him recently, about two years ago, and named the dog Gunther. Simon, if asked, couldn't explain why that particular name, but to him it seemed quite appropriate for this dog.
They entered the park and let Gunther off the leash, giving the dog some freedom of action. He wasn't worried about him. Gunther was a good, well-trained boy. Simon couldn't allow it to be otherwise – order and obedience were what he valued perhaps one of the most in many areas.
There were not many people and dogs in the park at that time. Simon watched Gunther for a moment, who for now was just running around, enjoying his moment of freedom. He planned to train with him a bit, but not now, no. Now he wanted to get a smoke.
Simon moved a little to the side so as not to disturb anyone – he wasn't at all sure if smoking was allowed here. Having fished a lighter out of his pocket and already reaching for a pack of cigarettes in the second, he suddenly raised his head, only to see that Gunther had jumped on another dog, barking playfully at them. And though Simon could see that it was only innocent game, he shoved his hands and everything else back into his jacket pockets and moved closer. Nowadays, many dog owners were too soft to understand that dogs needed socialization just as much as people. But he would rather take the dog away than deal with frightened loud ladies.
"Gunter, come." - he called out to the dog in an even, slightly demanding tone.
