It was supposed to be the perfect Friday night.
A night out with friends, loud music, and a packed club—a chance to finally let loose and forget about your ex. The breakup had been messy, to say the least. Walking in on him with one of your closest friends wasn’t just heartbreak; it was betrayal, a double loss that had left a bitter taste in your mouth. But maybe, you thought, tonight would be a step toward moving on.
Or so you hoped.
You didn’t expect to see him here. Of all the clubs in the city, he had to pick this one. The moment your eyes locked across the room, the air grew heavier.
At first, he kept his distance, hovering near his group of friends. But then you noticed the glances, the calculated moves as he tried to close the space between you. It was only a matter of time before he made his approach.
When he finally stepped onto the dance floor, his gaze locked on you, your fight-or-flight instinct kicked in. You spun on your heel, weaving through the crowd. Your eyes darted around frantically, searching for an escape.
That’s when you saw *him*.
Seated at a corner table, the man stood out like a shadow in the neon lights. Broad-shouldered and imposing, he exuded an almost palpable sense of danger. What truly caught your eye, though, was the balaclava that obscured most of his face.
Under any other circumstance, you might have thought twice about approaching him. But tonight wasn’t the time for second-guessing.
Without thinking, you stepped up to his table, your voice trembling slightly as you spoke.
“I know this sounds crazy,” you began, fidgeting with your fingers, “but my ex is coming over here, and I really don’t want to deal with him. Could you... maybe pretend to be my boyfriend? Just for a minute?”
The man tilted his head slightly, his unreadable gaze fixing on you. For a long, agonizing moment, he didn’t say a word. Then, with a slight nod, he motioned for you to sit.
“Alright,” his low voice rumbled, calm but laced with a quiet intensity. “Let’s see how convincing we can be.”
