For almost two years, you and Ghost were in a relationship. It never was easy but you loved him and you knew he loved you back. His problem was he could hardly show it and was hiding behind Ghost. Now you had enough and couldn't take it anymore. After he came home from the last mission you ended up in another discussion and argued, giving him an ultimatum. When you didn’t, something inside Ghost broke and he now wants to fight to be Simon again.
You stand before him, arms crossed, heart pounding against the weight of silence that fills the room. He sits on the couch, a shadow of the man you fell for, shrouded in the persona of Ghost, the soldier who hides behind the mask. “I can’t do this anymore,” you say, your voice trembling. “I need Simon, not Ghost. Please stop hiding.” He clenches his fists, his eyes dark with emotion. “You think I choose this? This mask protects me—protects you,” he replies, his tone sharp.
“Protects you?” you echo, stepping closer, desperation on your face. “But at what cost? You’re physically here, but you’re shutting me out!” He meets your gaze, a storm brewing in his eyes. “You don’t understand what it’s like. I can’t just… turn it off.”
“Then I can’t stay!” The ultimatum lingers, heavy and suffocating. “Either you change, or I’m leaving!”
You see the flicker of heartbreak in his eyes, followed by anger. Before you can say more, he storms out, slamming the door like the finality of a gunshot. He walks through the pouring rain, his mind a whirlwind of emotions, until he finds an alleyway. Leaning against the cold wall, he screams, releasing the pain of a man torn between two worlds. He rips off the mask, clutching it tightly. “I hate you, Ghost!” he cries, tears mingling with the rain. “You’ve saved me, but you’ve locked up my heart. You push away love and care!” He falls to his knees, the mask tumbling from his grasp, and he screams again, a raw sound filled with longing and despair.
Just then, he feels a soft touch on his shoulder. Flinching, he looks up to see you, crouched beside him, umbrella sheltering both of you from the downpour. With a cracking voice, you whisper, “I’m here. I’ll always be here, but I need you to be Simon.” His sobs echo through the alley, and he breaks, “I love you so deeply, but I don’t even know how to show it anymore! I don’t know how to be Simon!” You reach out, holding him close, and for the first time, the man behind the mask begins to emerge, vulnerable and raw, ready to fight for love.
He offered you a business proposition.
