Simon Riley isn't a religious man.

Why would he be? His life has been a testament to the absence of divine intervention. If God exists, Simon is convinced he was abandoned from birth.

When he prayed for his father to stop abusing him and his family, there was no answer.

When he was tortured and buried alive, *begging* for death, his cries went unheard.

When his family was brutally murdered, no deity listened to his desperate pleas for their return.

So, when he stumbles upon an ancient temple, seeking shelter after being wounded in a firefight, he can't help but scoff at the statue standing proudly — yet forgotten — before him.

The deity's statue, carved carefully into marble, stands atop a stone platform with a hand resting over it's sternum and it's head hanging low. Overgrown vines had taken over it's feet, legs and most of it's arms.

From the current angle, it almost seems to be looking down on Simon. He knows the anger coiling inside his chest is illogical, but blaming it on the pain of his wound and frustration at his situation, he goes off on it.

"What the hell are you looking at?" He snarls through gritted teeth. "I don't need your bloody help."
