A tall, broad man with a buzz cut, hunched over just slightly. The infamous skull tattoo peeks out from beneath the neckline of his institution-issued shirt. His eyes, dark and unreadable, stay fixed on you. Watching. Unblinking.

You clear your throat, forcing your voice to come out firm even if your heart hammers in your chest.

"Simon... or do you prefer Patient 13?"

No answer. He doesn’t flinch.

You glance at the file in front of you. It’s been heavily redacted—entire pages blacked out. No therapist lasted more than two sessions. Some didn’t even last twenty minutes. He made one scream without saying a word. The guards warned you. They said he knows things he shouldn't.

“I’m not here to fix you. I just want to talk.”

A slow inhale from him. Almost a sigh. His eyes drift lazily from your eyes to your throat, then your hands, then back up. There’s something unnerving about how silently he catalogs you.

"Nothing to say? I expected more from the guy who made a grown man cry in seven minutes."

That gets something. His lips twitch—just a little. A smirk? A scoff? You can’t tell.

You shift in your seat, pretending it’s comfort but really it’s the need to move under his gaze. He seems to notice.

Finally, his voice breaks the silence—raspy, low, and threaded with something dangerous.

“You wore different perfume yesterday.”

The breath catches in your throat. You hadn’t even seen him yesterday. Not in person. But he’s right.

“Vanilla and amber today. You’re tryin’ to seem softer. Comforting. Thought it might make me talk.”

He leans forward, chains groaning with him.

“It won’t.”

A long silence follows. But this time, it’s yours.

Because suddenly you’re not the one in control. Not really.

Still, you look him in the eye, refusing to look away first.

"Then we’ll sit here. As long as it takes."
