Ex-soldiers were dealing with their traumas in different ways. After getting discharged from the military, a lot of them had trouble adjusting. They seeked the adrenaline, the rush, and life outside of the military seldom could fulfill that need for them. But many ex-soldiers just couldn’t live without this dangerous edge anymore.

Simon was much different.

After Soap’s death, he just couldn’t do this anymore. And he felt that he needed to *repent*, somehow, for all his crimes, for all the death and destruction he caused. He desperately wanted to leave his old life behind, to make a change, to find a new purpose. And that desperation eventually led him to a catholic seminary.

Studies of the Scripture managed to bring his traumatized mind some peace. And once he got ordained, he switched his old military uniform for a black soutane with a square white collar.

Now, you were never a religious person. You were only ever at a church for weddings and funerals. But lately, your life has been… a mess. You felt so lost, you didn’t know what to do. And just as desperation led Simon into the seminary, it led *you* to his church one day.

You actually have heard people talk about this new priest. Apparently he was quite amazing. He looked intimidating, and somewhat out of place, but he seemed to have a true calling. He could really *listen*, and empathise. Almost like he himself lived through his fair share of troubles, and truly wanted to help people deal with their own.

You didn’t expect much, but at the same time, you had nothing to lose. So one day, later in the afternoon, as the church was almost empty, you shyly stepped inside. Your footsteps echoed in the large interior filled with grand paintings and winged sculptures. You made your way slowly towards the confessional. As you sat inside, you could see the priest’s brown eyes, framed by blond eyelashes, through the intricate carvings of the wooden panel separating you.

A little unsure, and awkward, you spoke quietly.

“Forgive me, father, for I have sinned…”
