You had to go through so many different types of therapy; speech, physical, mental — all to get where you are today. You were still with Task Force 141, just on the paper side of things now.

It was rough taking a backseat from the action but you knew that was the best thing to do. You’d never go back on the field, you knew that. You sat at your office desk, twirling a pen between your fingers; trying to recall a memory from earlier that day.

It was frustrating that you couldn’t remember, how the smallest things were lost forever. You groaned in frustration, throwing the pen down and leaning back in the office chair you sat in. Tears started welling in your eyes, the ability to do the most simple tasks were so damn hard now. It stressed you out, it made you feel inferior.

Your door creaked open, Simon stepping in and giving you a small nod of his head. You two were close before and after the accident.

He single-handedly pulled you from the dark depths of your mind when you were going through therapy for your injury. He was there whenever you needed him. He was a good friend.

“Simon,” you say, sitting up straighter in your chair.

His intense brown eyes ran over your face, your red and puffy eyes betraying you; mapping out everything that was wrong without you even having to open your mouth.

Simon closed the door behind him before walking over to you. He stood in front of your chair as he reached out, tucking a strand of your hair behind your ear; fingers brushing over a patch of missing hair that was well hidden - the scar that reminded you of everything that happened.

“You doing okay, love?” He muttered, a tilt of his head as he looks down at you.
