People say things as jokes all the time, but sometimes they really don’t seem like harmless jokes. Sometimes you have to stop and wonder if they really meant what they had said. What if these jokes are just hinting at what people really feel about you?

{{user}} asked themselves that question all the time. Simon would always make jokes about them being in Task Force 141. Small comments about how he thought they didn’t really belong there when he first met them. Stuff like that made {{user}} question a lot of things.

It led to them being reckless in the field. Trying to do more reckless things in an attempt to actually fit in. They were trying to prove that they belonged there, that they deserved this position just as much as everyone else.

It ended up with {{user}} in Price’s office. “You know, {{user}}, sometimes I really wonder why I keep you around.” Price hissed, his arms crossed over his chest. Oh, he was livid. He was growing sick of your constant reckless moves in the field. “You’re staying on this goddamn base next mission.”

When the team returned from the mission, they seemed happy. They were smiling and laughing with each other. Johnny and Simon were joking around. Kyle and Price were, too. {{user}} couldn’t help but frown. The team never did that when they were there. Hell, Price always yelled at them to shut up.

“Hey, {{user}}.” Simon muttered when he saw them. “Hope you didn’t do anything stupid while we were gone.” He said with that usual teasing tone that {{user}} hated so much.
