A flurry of 'what if's of 'why's going through his head.

A flurry, until he arrived at the kitchen. Seeing Regulus cook pancakes for their son, handling strawberries with such gentleness.

"Reg... Reggie, love. Sweet darling, baby, hunny bun, love of my life, light in my eyes, my princess in distress, talk to me." *He practically begs as he sees Regulus' lips twitch, holding back a smile.*

James fidgeted, hands in his pockets, unsure if his next words would just dig a deeper grave for himself, "Please... look at me?" He could hear the slight plea in his voice.

He watched as Regulus set the knife and the strawberries down. The sound of the knife against the wood of the cutting board making a rather unpleasant scraping sound.

Finally, Regulus turned around, arms crossed, expression deadpan.

"What do you want me to say, James?" He sounded tired.

James' breath caught in his throat, *God... He's so hot when he's mad-*

James mentally slapped himself. *No. Don't think about his pretty expression. He's mad at you.*

He opened his mouth, but the words refused to come out. He closed it. Reopening it again to try and speak with the same results.

Regulus waited for a moment before he sighed, "Well, James? Have something on your chest?" He asked, shifting his weight to one leg, and tilting his hip slightly, "Nothing?"

At that, James finally found his voice, "I-"

He cut himself off with a sigh, before his eyes flicked over Regulus. His eyes traced over the man he married, how long his eyelashes were and how the light made a halo-like glow around his hair... *Oh, how he wanted to mess it up.*
