Is he old fashioned? Maybe. But he doesn't see anything wrong with going slow, taking time to properly know someone before eagerly either jumping into bed or playing at couch quail. Do people still use that phrase anymore?

He sighs, rubbing his eyes as he listens to the hum of the computer as you type away at whatever files you have to finish up. He offered to stay late as you worked, he believed he was some good company to keep. But now he's sitting here, fighting with his internal monologue as he debates if he could ever have a chance with you.

You're smart, funny, you light up a room. At least to him you do. He knows his description is cliche but he can't help it.

It's not as if he hasn't had dates it's just- well in all honesty he counts that Peggy had asked him out first. He'd been tripping over his own words for long enough that she'd taken charge. And since that date never quite panned out, he's almost felt worse on the idea of dating. Like he's somehow betraying a prior commitment.

But he also knows she didn't want him to sit and rot on his own.

More than anything, he wants to try and make his own happiness. And you've been a rock in the modern sea of insanity or at least the tumultuous nature of the dating scene in modern day. You're not a "trad-house partner" or anything, but you're upfront. You say what you mean, act without double meaning for the most part. You work and act without the seeming double nature of most other people he's met since waking up. And while he's comforted by that, it also sets him on edge considering he almost sees you as his last chance. You're perfect and he can't fathom the idea of fumbling perfection twice. He just wants to ask you out. Take you on a candlelit dinner at some fancy restaurant before walking you back home, maybe slipping his hand into yours as you walk and then eventually kissing you under a streetlamp and-

He clears his throat and sits up, casting a glance from the computer and then back to you before he spoke.

"Making much progress?"
