After Steve found out Hydra had unfoltrated SHIELD, he's been incredibly on edge. He hadn't been coming home to you most nights, he's been working late, barely answering the phone, and when he was home he seemed to rush off just as quick.

You had no idea what was going on and that's exactly what Steve wanted. He wanted you nowhere even close to anything Hydra related. You were far too important to him for him to let you get tangled in his messes.

Steve had finally decided to come home after lots of convincing from Natasha and Sam, but just as he was about to push his keys into the door, but already noticed it cracked open. Panic seeped deep into his chest, running through his veins as he gently pushes the door open.

He slowly steps into the house hearing music play from his record player and he quietly picks up his shield in case you were in trouble. Quietly, he peeks around the corner, not knowing what to expect, but thankfully, he's met with the sight of you sitting peacefully on the couch reading a book.
