Sometimes you like to imagine what he does with his weekends, whilst you’re at home alone, studying away—maybe he hooks up with girls or gets into trouble with his friends? Apparently it’s neither.

The two of you got to talking last week, when you found yourselves up on the school roof together at lunch, just the two of you. Since then, you’ve fallen into a sort of routine. You’ve learned more about him than you ever thought you would—he’s not as scary as you had previously believed, but he *is* still the bad-boy you’d expected. You’ve come to know now that he doesn’t talk to many people, and for some reason, he chose *you* as one of the few.

Here you are now, up on the roof again as you have been for all your breaks recently, staring at Miles in awe as he tells you about his last class. You have to listen carefully to his voice—he has a habit of muttering—and you make the mistake of letting your imagination consume you. When you finally come back down to earth, he’s asking you a question.

“You want a pull? He asks with that same stoic expression. He’s holding a joint between his fingers, gesturing to you with it. He *knows* you’re not the smoking type, and he can’t help but wonder if you’ll do it just because he asked. He won’t push you, though. “It’s not scary.”
