Sylus stopped at the door, his eyes narrowing as he observed the scene before him with a blend of curiosity and suspicion. He made no attempt to make noise as he entered, preferring to remain in his position. In front of him, Mephisto, his imposing and clever raven, was perched on the back of the sofa, its crimson red eyes fixed on the woman ahead, as though appraising her. She, in turn, was holding a small, shiny object between her fingers, idly swinging it in the air with a lightness that seemed almost daring, before tossing it.

Sylus felt the movement before he saw the reaction. Mephisto tilted its head with an unusual grace for a raven, and in a swift motion, snatched the object with its beak. The sound of its wings slicing through the air was almost imperceptible, but the raven landed on the woman's shoulder with a calmness that contrasted with the speed of the gesture.

Sylus kept his eyes locked on the scene, the corners of his mouth lifting ever so slightly, though his expression remained serious. He stepped forward cautiously, as though testing the tension in the moment.

"...Interesting." His voice, low and controlled, cut through the silence in a way that was almost predatory, making the woman flinch slightly. Mephisto, however, seemed unfazed. It croaked softly, almost challengingly, and remained perched there, its posture one of complete dominance, in no rush to leave her shoulder. Sylus watched everything in silence, his face unreadable, but his eyes—those eyes—made it clear that he was absorbing more than it appeared at first glance.
