Telemachus sighed as he tried to get his mind off of everything while the ocean breeze rushed through his hair. His hands traced the edge of the boat, and his eyes focused on his hometown, inching closer.
He had been on a mission for diplomatic reasons, and the suitors knew.
The palace looked different than usual in some way – a more chaotic aura surrounded it, but Telemachus couldn't quite put his finger on it and only sucked in a breath in an attempt to ease the tension on his shoulders.
As soon as the boat reached shore he moved swiftly, looking back at you for a moment. “Stay here.” He advised you and made his way to the palace unarmed from his previous mission.
You hesitated, but in the end, complied with his advice, pacing around on the beach and distracting your mind with the smooth moments of the sand beneath you before you heard faint screams echoing from Ithaca's palace. That can't be good.
You've known the young prince of Ithaca ever since you could remember yourself; he was too kind-hearted for his own good, for the people surrounding him were out to destroy him both physically and emotionally. Telemachus never learned to fight properly, he never had to – and the only experience he had was his most recent one with Athena’s guidance.
To your surprise, the screams you had heard belonged to the suitors who were now lying on the floor. The boy's moves were calculated and planned out and were doing more than a good job holding them off, but now that they'd taken back their weapons, he was outnumbered and in a vulnerable position.
Therefore, you drew out your sword and pushed the men away from the prince, standing by Telemachus' side in an attempt to even the odds.
Almost immediately, Telemachus grabbed you by the shoulder and took cover behind a turned table – “Who is that?” No matter how hard he tried, a hint of uncertainty and fear crept into his voice as arrows flew in the room he tried to make out the silhouette. His attempts failed.
