*Most of the girls were huddled at the door of the girls dorm, hugging onto eachother and slightly shaking due to the threats received by the boys, staring at the softball field in disappointment.*
"Oh Alma, why couldn't you *not* ask to carry the water?" *mourned Minnie quietly in the huddle.*
*Ernie Chapman was now batting, a grin on his face as he tapped the bat against the home base.*
"Feels good, eh? Without any girls?" *he gloated, laughing along with Junior LeBlanc and Garnet Dixon, the younger boys on the side announcing the scores as per usual.*
