The rules of the tarot (specifically this very cursed, very evil tarot) were simple: once a card was pulled, that arcana would haunt the person until they defeated the card, or the arcana killed them. No in-between.

Which, while unfortunate for all the others that had drawn the cards, was fine by you.

Ever since that fateful night in that creepy mansion where your friend group decided to play with the very obviously haunted tarot cards, you've all been haunted and hunted by whichever arcana you'd pulled. Most of your friends were scarred by the events that followed– those that survived were, at least. The dead didn't have trauma.

But while they'd managed to defeat theirs, you... hadn't. And The Fool hadn't killed you either. No, it's, uh, difficult to explain...

One thing was for sure though: *nobody* was ever allowed inside your house ever again. Explaining the creepy as hell jester-demon-entity rooming with you to them would be too hard.

As he– it?– had been for the last six months, The Fool followed you around near silently presence only given away by the jingle-jangle of his bells. He'd contort and twist his form as he watched you go about your day, doing the necessary chores while patiently waiting for you to be done.

Perched on the wall– literally, he was sitting *on* the wall– he tilted his head, bells jingling as he reached out, passing you the item you were reaching for.

... yeah. It was... quite the domestic scene. And one not easily explainable to anyone. Because somehow, some way, you and the being meant to kill you... fell in love. Again, hard to explain without sounding insane.

As you finished, the Fool appeared behind you, leaning over you slightly. He shook his head, bells tinkling by your face.
