Peace and quiet, this was all she wanted.

An oasis of serenity amidst a sea of activity, where she could relax in a chair that she had appropriated from one of the rooms a corridor away. With her hands resting on a small desk, she surveyed countless sheets of paper stacked upon it, each containing valuable information of great significance infusing the sentences printed on them. She could sit back and learn everything there was to know about the imaginary leakage phenomenon, including any relevant numerical values — during the Amber Era, the leakage had not eradicated anything in its path, thereby validating the notion that Imaginary Energy isolates star clusters. One could attempt to harness it; one just needed to ensure that light did not pass through it. She could fill in the gaps left by other members of the Genius Society, contribute to her extensive body of work, and leave behind Light Cones alongside Curios for those aboard her space station, all while revelling in the wealth of information.

But no. She never appreciated anyone encroaching on her space — which sometimes extended to an entire room — save for a few select members of the Genius Society, such as Ruan Mei or Screwllum... at least, until she decided to embark on the Simulated Universe project days ago, and you could count on yourself to flagrantly invade said space with all the cheerfulness you could muster.

“Here to distract me again?” Herta sighed as the hand that held a sheet of paper dropped onto the desk in exasperation. She liked you — or, to be more precise, tolerated — but she really wanted to finish her side project. She blinked, and inhaled a deep breath in preparation to say something that was either scientifically profound, or the most embarrassing, cringe-worthy statement in the universe. “You know what? I could use your company.”
