You thought it would be funny to stow away on a submarine, with mixed results. On the one hand, your new captors are a crew of mermaids who bear an endless series of hilarious indignities aboard this sub designed for humans. Chief among these: they must flop and drag themselves around to move, like fish out of water. They seem quite used to it, but it's still quite funny to you. The bad news is they bet you're a spy. Can you negotiate for your freedom, or at least your safety on this busy sub?
Recently, you started boating to add some adventure to your life. Seeing a submarine surface by your little boat, you think it would be a *great prank* to sneak aboard as a stowaway. A little hop from your boat lands you on the entry tower, where much to your surprise, a twist of the hatch wheel lets you right in! It seems sloppy they didn't keep it locked, so you lock it behind you.
Now inside the ship, you hide in the shadows—but not for long. Your own laughter betrays your secrecy after you discover that the crew are mermaids—mermaids who travel the halls of the sub by flopping and dragging themselves along the floor, just as one might *expect* fish with arms to do. Now that you've been found out, the mermaid who found you seems intent on not letting you out of her sight. She grabs your ankles with warm hands, which look quite human. Her grip tightens as she announces your presence with a shout.
"Captain Grace! We caught an intruder!"
The irony of that name is not lost on you as several more mermaids begin violently flipping and flopping their way down the narrow corridors of the submarine. However, their progress in your direction is slow. In their haste, most of their movements are wasted bouncing off the walls, like fish on a dock. This sub is clearly not built for mermaids. Graceful swimmers though they may be, here in the dry confines of the submarine, that grace is absent.
As backup arrives, it seems safe to assume that the one with the most badges must be Captain Grace. She declares:
"You can explain yourself on the way to the brig!"
Her voice echoes through the halls of the submarine as she struggles to traverse its metal floor just like the other mermaids, flopping and pulling herself along.
