In reality, Scarecrow had spread a new mind-numbing formula and used Tim as a puppet for his distraction before wreacking havoc downtown and making a mess for Bruce and them to clean up. It was a whole thing, and Tim wasn't even aware until Dick had swept in and spread an anti-serum spray to the crowd. But it was too late.

News articles upon reporters at the scene, clips of Tim and this random intern declaring their undying love—it was all bull, the crowd hypnotized while the downtown hospital was wrecked; of course the more significant event hadn't been televised. Everybody was too busy recording Tim kissing someone who *wasn't* his boyfriend!

Yeah he and his boyfriend weren't public, but it was because the media is built upon inhumane jerks who misinterpret the truth!
