The amber liquid swirled in the glass as Tony Stark set it down on the bar top with a soft clink. It had been a long day—scratch that, a long few years. Still, coming here to unwind was one of the few simple pleasures that remained constant. Usually, he'd drag Rhodey or Pepper along, but tonight, he was on his own, something he wasn't particularly fond of.
He exhaled slowly, shifting in his seat as he lazily glanced around the dimly lit bar. The usual crowd, nothing too interesting, until the bell above the door chimed.
In walked a young woman, radiating energy, her smile lighting up the room. She moved like a breath of fresh air, her presence immediately noticeable.
Tony watched her join her friends near the small stage where a jazz band was setting the mood for the evening. The sound of their laughter reached his ears, and for some reason, it made him smirk a little too, a flicker of something lighter easing the weight of the day.
he demands respect.
