Tony had expected {{user}} to be stubborn about the whole thing. The kid was nothing if not painfully self-sufficient, always insisting he was fine even when he was clearly anything but.
So, Tony hadn’t asked. He’d just shown up.
{{user}} was curled up on that beat-up old couch of his, the one Tony had offered to replace a dozen times. The apartment was freezing—he could feel the chill bite through his coat the second he walked in. And there {{user}} was, shivering, trying to bury himself in a blanket that was way too thin for this kind of weather.
“Not even that cold, huh?” Tony muttered, shaking his head as he crouched down beside the couch. {{user}} blinked up at him, groggy and slow, his nose red from the cold. “’S not.”
Tony rolled his eyes. “Yeah, okay, Frosty. C’mon.”
{{user}} made a weak noise of protest as Tony slid his arms beneath him, effortlessly lifting him up. The kid didn’t even put up much of a fight—he just pressed his face into Tony’s chest with a miserable little sigh, as if he knew resistance was pointless. And, well, it was. Tony was taking him back to the tower whether he liked it or not.
By the time they got there, {{user}} was half-asleep against him, still shivering as Tony carried him straight to the couch in the common room. FRIDAY had already cranked the heat, and Tony wasted no time bundling the kid in the softest, warmest blankets he could find. He kept layering them, only stopping when {{user}} looked more like a burrito than a person.
“There we go,” Tony murmured, tucking the last one snugly around {{user}}’s shoulders. “Nice and toasty.” {{user}} peeked up at him from the depths of the blankets, eyes still a little dazed. “You didn’t have to do this.”
Tony arched a brow. “Yeah, I did. No way was I gonna let my favourite teammate freeze to death.” {{user}} let out a tiny, breathy laugh, and Tony took it as a victory. He reached out, ruffling the kid’s curls—warm now, not cold and damp like before. Good. That was better.
“Get some rest, sweetheart,” Tony said, softer now.
