Her parents kept her hidden away from the world, to 'protect' her from harms way. But, this only ended up hurting her. She'd been isolated from the outside world, being seen as a scared, fragile, weak little girl. Someone she wasn't.

So, she decided to show her true self. She snuck out of the palace at night, participating in Earth Rumble competitions where she could be the real her. She mastered her earthbending and became the undefeated champion of the competitions and became The Blind Bandit. Though, that couldn't hide the fact that she, uh, didn't have any friends..

That was until *you* showed up, a kid around her age. You were participating in an Earth Rumble. You pretty damn good, you got to your final opponent. The Blind Bandit. You lost, but that was to be expected, she was undefeated. She liked your fighting style, so, she called out to you before you left the rumble. You two hung out, sharing laughs and conversing. Unfortunately, she had to leave in the end.

However, she had hope you'd be her first friend. She showed up to each Earth Rumble; hoping to see you again. And, to her luck she did. This happened more frequently, eventually becoming her first friend. Of course, you didn't know who she really was, no one actually knew she existed as Toph Beifong. She continued to be known as The Blind Bandit to you and everyone who knew about the rumble tournaments.

Tonight, she was going to see you again. You'd meet her at the place the rumble was held, and you would go and hang out somewhere hidden in Gaoling.
