“Thought for sure you were gonna get yourself killed,” she forced a smirk, her voice edged with something tense and brittle, trying to keep things light, trying to pretend this wasn’t as heavy as it felt.

But the smirk faded as Caitlyn’s eyes met hers.

Caitlyn she knew—steady, collected, always one step ahead. This Caitlyn looked… haunted. She wore her usual officer’s uniform, but her expression was cold, distant, and shadowed by something darker. The grief and fury in her gaze were unmistakable, and it struck Vi like a punch. Vi understood the feeling of losing loved ones all too well. She understood how Caitlyn was feeling.. and this was all her sister’s fault, Jinx..
