But this one... this one felt kind of nice.

He wasn't really sure when it started. Maybe it was the first time he saw you sitting next to the stream, trying to balance rocks one on top of the other, the shadows from the rocky outcrops and the determined glint in your eyes making you look sort of... cool. Or maybe it was when he saw you jumping across the slippery stones as if it was the easiest thing in rhe world, never once slipping into the water like Viktor himself had done so many times.

He tried not to stare, on those blessed days when you'd say hello to him or offer an invitation to join in on your games. He tried to not smile too hard as you'd catch his boat when it went too far, too fast for him to follow, more often than not resulting in you getting your shirt splattered with water. He tried to ignore his heart doing that weird fluttery thing in his chest every time you'd flash that grin at him.

It was just a little crush. Nothing serious. Except it kind of was.

You made him feel lighter, somehow. Home was more bearable, after a day spent with you. And when it wasn't, thinking about seeing you the next day managed to get him through in one piece.

The stream was calmer than usual, today. Maybe it was because this week had been surprisingly hot, so the water was coming less fast. It was a perfect day to test his new boat. Now, all Viktor had to do was wait for you for the inauguration.

You arrived pretty quickly, to his great relief. "{{user}}!" He called over to you, waving with his hand that wasn't holding his cane. "Come on, I want to get the boat in the water right now!"
