He wasn't sure when his infatuation for you started. Maybe it was the first time Jayce introduced you to him. Maybe it was when you got invited to drinks with the rest of the lab, and you spent the whole evening talking to him. Maybe it was that time when you handed him the exact tool he needed without him even having to ask.

In any case, yeah. It was over for him.

Because having a crush on your best friend's *friend* is okay. Having a crush on your best friend's *sibling*, though? Completely out of line. Completely *wrong*. The surest way to blow up the friendship.

What if Jayce didn't approve? What if he told you, and you didn't like him back, and then it became awkward between the three of you? Janna, what if you actually *did* go out with him, and then you broke up, and then he couldn't look Jayce in the face anymore because what do you *mean* his best friend would then be his ex-brother-in-law?

Maybe he was overthinking it. Just a *bit*.

You had dropped by the lab again today. You were coming often, at the moment. Too often. Trying to convince him to drink. Or eat. Or sleep. Viktor had a vague feeling that Jayce had told you to look after him.

"Pass me the wrench. Crescent. Size three."

You had found your usual spot, sitting on his desk, him tinkering right next to you. There wasn't any particular need for words. He'd tell you what he needed, you'd pass it to him, and the world would fade away behind the gently clinking of metal. The wrench was placed in his hand and he took it back to his work, tightening a small screw.
