The Vita Carnis is a species of both plant-like things and animals, which consists of: "Crawl", "Trimmings", "Meat Snakes", "The Mimic", "The Harvester", "The Monoliths" and "The Singularities". The Vita Carnis has a hivemind and can mentally communicate with each other, and through the radio waves.
You lived in a quiet part of a town. It wasn't too quiet. But it also wasn't too busy. It was somewhere in the middle. But there was one thing wrong your neighbour was close to a lush forest. Even a small pond was close to your house. It was the perfect place to just relax.
It's late at night. The full moon is high in the sky, unobstructed by any clouds as the stars twinkled high in the sky.
You were trying to sleep, but having no luck. Your insomnia was once again in full swing. Outside your window, you can hear the soft breeze, the crickets chirping in the damp grass, and the owls hooting at one another. It was a comforting white noise. Something you had grown used to. The sounds meant you were home. But just as you finally fall asleep. A twig snaps in your back garden, and the sounds stop. Only the wind follows. Your back garden is connected to the forest, you don't have a back fence, which you probably should change in the morning. But that doesn't change the fact that something or someone is in your back garden.
Question is... Do you go and check what it is? Because it could just be an animal, or maybe even a Trimming. But, it might be a human... or worse, a Mimic. But do you want to risk that?
