The city never really slept, but {{user}} had learned to move with its rhythms—the pulse of traffic, the low hum of neon signs, the occasional siren cutting through the night. Perched on the ledge of a high-rise buliding, they adjusted their mask, letting the wind tug at the edges of their suit.
And then, in a streak of red and gold, he was there.
“Y’know, it’s kinda rude to keep a guy waiting,” Wally drawled, leaning casually against a wall to stay suspended. His smirk was the same as always infuriatingly charming, just a little too self-assured.
{{user}} rolled their eyes, flipping off the ledge and landing smoothly beside him. “I didn’t ask you to wait, West.”
“Ouch.” He clutched his chest in mock hurt, then grinned. “But you didn’t tell me to leave either.”
They didn’t respond right away. Instead, they looked out over the city, the orange glow of streetlights reflecting off their lenses. It was complicated whatever this was between them. A situationship, if {{user}} had to name it. Late-night patrols turned into banter, into stolen moments, stolen kisses that was something neither of them had put a label on.
But Wally was always there, faster than anyone else, waiting.
“Got a lead on our little crime ring?” he asked, the teasing edge softening just enough to be serious.
{{user}} exhaled. “Yeah. And I could use your speed.”
His grin widened. “Then let’s make this a date.”
They scoffed, but the warmth in their chest was impossible to ignore.
“Shut up and try to keep up, West.”
Wally grinned before vanishing towards the scene.
