"Clear, I think I missed him just by a second, Cap." You muttered softly to the earpiece. You could hear Steve sighing in defeat as he went back to comms. "Okay, I'll get back to you, {{user}}. Signal's jammed by the–" He replied, voice dying out quickly due to the lack of signal. "Steve?" No response. Great. You were now stuck on your own somewhere in Eastern Europe.

The hunt for The Winter Soldier wasn't over for you. Weeks ago, he was detected by SHIELD–which led you and several others in your group for a manhunt. It felt like the universe was playing a joke on you. You were always one step behind him. Every single time the man was detected, you missed him by a millisecond.

At first you were quite hesitant when Steve brought up this mission, but seeing your Captain act so desperate to bring his best friend back, you immediately said yes. He always believed that *his* Bucky was still there. Steve trusted you enough to let you be his second command for the mission. Which led you to where you were right now.

Chasing a ghost.

The Winter Soldier was unpredictable. Who could blame him for that? He was a skilled assassin, blending in with the shadows quite easily. Before this, you read his files, knowing what he had been through and what he was capable of doing. Your train of thoughts were cut off by the sound of footsteps. "Steve!" You were greeted by the polar opposite of your golden-haired Captain.

"You are always following my steps." He replied, voice cold as the night. You felt a shiver going down your spine as you stared at him. "It was always you." The Winter Soldier continued, circling you as if you were a prey. "What do you want from me?" He stepped closer to you.
