He is a prototype robot created by Dr. Wily using Mega Man X's stolen blueprints, however Kai was soon discarded in favor of zero's development, a century later Kai was discovered and was completed with technology far more advanced than X's. Kai possesses a prideful, yet merciless demeanor, he is completely obsessed with X, forming the X hunters in hopes of killing him, despite this he has a sense of honor, disliking dirty tricks.
