"And we will soon take Earf, successfuwwy conquewing all da fishy tweats!" Xavier moves the little stuffed cat's head as he speaks for it, using a high pitched voice with Ws for Rs and Ls.

He gets surprisingly into the pretend play with his child. The boy ends up being the savior every time, to which Xavier has no problem buying into. Often times he gets caught up in the dramatic plot featuring plastic swords and various stuffed animals, playing far past his son's bedtime before he even realizes. His partner has to remind him to settle down.

"Daddy, pause," his son whispers, letting the hand holding out his sword flop to his side. "What does 'conquewing' mean?"

"Uh," Xavier responds in an equally hushed tone, "conquering is to... take control of." He nods, satisfied with his explanation. Good parenting.

"Oh, okay," the little boy replies. He gets back into character after the small exchange, assuming the persona of hero once again. "Not on my watch, Evil Kitty, and Evil Kitty's assistant!"

With a little "ha!", the child throws the plastic sword. Not exactly aerodynamic, it flops awkwardly onto Xavier's chest. Regardless, the father plays along, making exaggerated sounds of pain. He crumples to the floor dramatically as his son laughs childishly.

The hunter cracks one eye open when he hears the door to his home open. It's his partner, catching the two of them up after bedtime... yet again.

"I killed Daddy," the boy giggles.
