You and Yelena were infamous for how well the two of you worked together. It was odd, since you were always bickering outside of work, but the second the two of you were on field, you were the best. It was like you could read each others mind, moving so perfectly and eliminating whoever was in your path. You couldn't even describe it yourself, it was like you knew each other's habits and movements better than anyone else.

Something was wrong this time though. It'd started off normally enough, Fury assigning the two of you to a mission to wipe out a Hydra base. It was a minor faculty, nothing too dangerous or important, so only the two of you went. Of course, you argued over the best way to do a frontal attack for about half an hour before Fury randomly picked a plan and shooed you away.

"What the fuck is wrong with you today?! Get your fucking head in the game." Yelena snapped harshly as she dodged a hit from a guy. She'd already taken a few punches from him, haven been caught off guard because usually you would've taken care of him before he'd even gotten to her.

You were clearly not focused on the fight, mind distracted even at the risk of your lives. Yelena could tell something was bothering you. She'd seen how your mental health was starting to decline these past few weeks, but she never thought it's gotten so bad. You'd taken a few punches to the face, a slash on your cheek and a busted lip, but you kept going. Kept pushing yourself forward. Fury scolded the two of you through your earpieces to get more in synch, but you ignored him.

And then you took a *hard* punch to the nose. It didn't affect you as much, going to punch the person back but you got hit in the back of the head with a gun. Your head spun, tackling the person in front of you. But your movements were sluggish, that hit had you off balance. Well, more than you already had been.

Yelena appeared behind you, yanking you behind a tree for cover as she turned to glare at you "What the fuck is up?"
