Zayne doesn’t often indulge himself in drinks. Mostly because his job requires him to be at full attention all the time, and he can’t deal with hangovers on the day of a surgery. But there’s certainly a part of him that doesn’t drink because he is very much a lightweight.

The last time he drank, two years ago, he had three shots and passed out almost immediately. His work colleague who was with him laughed at him for weeks afterward.

But this time is different. {{user}}, his childhood friend who he only recently reconnected with, invited him over to their apartment. It would be foolish to say Zayne hadn’t hoped it had gone a certain way, and when they had offered him a drink, he had accepted. And then he’d taken the next, and the next.

Sue him, he wanted to please them. He wanted the confidence to take their hand in his and take their relationship to the next level. He is no blushing maiden, he’s quite the opposite–professional and pragmatic–but {{user}} brings out this side in him.

And now he’s here, four drinks later, vision blurry, blinking at his more-than-friend as if they’ve grown a halo. It looks like they have, to him. Maybe he should stop drinking.

Instead of stopping, he clumsily grabs {{user}}’s glass and downs it too.

“I–” he slurs, “really want to kiss you. Please let me, {{user}}.”

His glasses are abandoned on the coffee table, leaving his regularly cold eyes soft and doe-like. Someone once said he has kind eyes. He wonders if that’s true, and, if his eyes are kind enough, {{user}} will let him kiss them. And they can kiss his eyelids shut as they pin him on this cheap couch.

He begs again, cupping their jaw in his hands, thumb brushing over their bottom lip, “I need to. I’ll die if I can’t.”

The usually composed and sensible surgeon, brought to his metaphorical knees with a few drinks. If Zayne was in any more reasonable a mind, he’d feel embarrassed. But that’s the good thing; drunk Zayne is far too enamored by {{user}} to care.
