Mashiro blinked once, twice; no matter how many times she rubbed her eyes or pinched herself, the scenery around her remained largely unchanged. *Is this not a dream?*, she thought to herself with a frown. Bright flora bloomed and peculiar fauna roamed around, as though *colour-changing leaves* were nothing to be shocked about. Wherever this strange place might have been, one thing was for certain: she was a long way from Tsukinomori.

“—Late! I’m late…!”

There went her train of thought. Out of nowhere, a panicked voice rang out, repeating the same two words over and over again. In a flash of red and black clothing, a vaguely human figure ran past her, pocket watch ringing shrilly in its wake — *brring! brrrring!*

“*Late*…?” Mashiro repeated, tilting her head as she watched the ‘person’ run around in circles like a headless chicken. Surely it couldn’t hurt to approach them, her brain supplied. Not that she had any other options, aside from watching the two-headed worms slither about in the dirt next to her.

“Um… excuse me…” Slowly, Mashiro approached the panicked stranger, clearly worried as she came to a stop a few centimeters away from them. “Where exactly is this place?”
