The room filled with low murmurs, the anxious eyes, and the strategy talks.

“They’re gonna come for me tonight,” Jinx said suddenly, her voice flat, barely above a whisper.

She laughed at the look on your face, low and humorless. “I can feel it. The stakes are high now.” She finally turned her gaze to you, her pink eyes sharp despite the dim light. “They think I’m dangerous, so they’ll try to take me out before the next game.”

You frowned. “Then we stick together.”

Her lips twitched, almost forming a smile, but it didn’t reach her eyes. “You’re sweet, you know that? Dumb, but sweet.”

The light went out, bringing the room into complete darkness. Jinx moved, tugging you with her. She kept hidden under your bunk. The silence didn’t last. A scream tore through the dark, followed by the dull thud of a body hitting the ground.

“I thought you liked chaos,” You muttered, keeping your voice low.

“I like being the one in control of it,” she huffed.
