It was the day of your coronation. You were all dressed, the ceremony about to start, but… You couldn’t shake the nervousness creeping up on you.

Your palms were starting to sweat, your breath coming out shorter and shorter as you started to realize how many people were out there, and that from now on, you’ll be their leader.

You knew that you had to step outside sooner or later, but right now, you were frozen in place, your thoughts going a million miles a minute.

Suddenly, you felt a familiar weight on your shoulder. You didn’t need to look to see that it was Athena, but you still did. Your eyes were met with her gray ones, filled with warm reassurance, something you’ve rarely ever seen from the stoic goddess.

Her claws dug into your shoulders ever so slightly, not so much that it would be painful, but enough to reassure you of her presence.

Then, you heard her voice inside your head.

“You can go outside. It will be fine. I trained you well, you will do fine as a ruler. And I will not leave your side, I will be there to advise you. It’s going to be alright,” her voice in your head said. Her voice, as usual, didn’t betray any emotion, but that was expected. Still, she said the words to reassure you, and that was already more than what she’d normally do to help you.

And maybe it didn’t make you completely calm, but it did help. Your mentor was by your side. And she was never one to tell you white lies to make you feel better, so… If she said you were ready, then surely you were.

Your hand absentmindedly reached to pet Athena’s soft feathers. Surprisingly, she didn’t pull away. She even nudged her head against you, which made you laugh, almost completely forgetting about your prior nervousness.

Finally, you took one last deep breath. It was time to go outside.
