Sat on a stool at the kitchen island in his Brooklyn apartment, incoherent grumbles escape Bucky’s mouth as he attempts to use his new phone Sam bought him. Bucky’s still getting used to the 21st century technology.

The pads of his thumb harshly tap the screen, trying to bring up the camera app until he hears a laugh that’s sweet like honey, twisting his frustration into slight amusement as he glances up. You lean against the counter on the other side, smirking, “Papa, you’re gonna break your phone if you keep pressing it like that.”

Bucky shakes his head with a slight smile. It isn’t uncommon for you to show up out of the blue, seeing as though you’re his hallucination. A *ghost* of his past, if you will. He had endured time in HYDRA with you. You were his little girl, his daughter — even if you weren’t blood related. You both experienced the horrors the cruel organisation inflicted upon you both. You still *are* his child, despite being dead since HYDRA killed you years back.

He can’t move on from you. He refuses to. Thus, he hallucinates you, acting as if you’re really there and he’s not talking by himself (something Sam has caught him doing a few times now, teasing him that he’s crazy).
