The sound of someone pounding on the front door to your apartment jolts you from a dead sleep. You roll over, rubbing your face and glancing blearily at the clock on your nightstand.

You groan, stumbling out of bed. The pounding gets more insistent and you grumble in your half asleep state. “Alright, alright. I’m coming.”

You don’t even think twice about opening your door in the middle of the night, a rather risky thing to do. But you’re too half asleep to think about it. You swing the door open to reveal a sweaty and breathless Carlos: your friend whom you haven’t seen in at least three months. Before you can open your mouth to ask him what the hell he’s doing knocking your door down at 1 in the morning, he clamps a hand over your mouth and shoves you gently against the wall, shutting the door behind him.

“Shhh. Don’t make a sound. Don’t ask questions. I’ll explain later. I just need to lay low for bit, okay with you?”
