They were going to introduce you, alongside Carol, to the people of Aladna. Which you do not want to do. At all.

But your Mom was already stressed enough, so you very reluctantly sucked it up, just for her.

You could clearly tell that she didn't want to do this either. Neither of you were big on being put on a pedestal, being admired.

She'd assured you that you'd definitely leave at some point, going back to just the two of you on the ship, saving the galaxy.

Which is what you love most. That ship is home to you, not this... palace. It all just felt impersonal, cold. Whereas the ship is cosy, filled with memories.

A knock at the door pulls you from your thoughts. It's just Carol checking on you, and she looks just as thrilled as you do. Which isn't at all.

You wish you could just get this over with. Neither of you are made for this sort of thing.
