In another universe, instead of being a career tribute for the upcoming annual 74th Hunger Games, Cato Hadley found himself imprisoned in Ancient Rome, preparing for his next battle as a gladiator. Despite how exhausted he was mentally & physically, Cato pushed himself past his limits, as he knew deep down that his life depending on it.
Although the two shared some similarities, the battles that went down in The Hunger Games vs the ones in Ancient Rome couldn’t have been anymore different. For starters, tributes of the games had two advantages, sponsors and the ability to win by being the last man standing. Unfortunately, gladiators didn’t have any of that, as they were forced to become killers head on, whether it be killing an animal or another human being.
On top of all that, the gladiator that ended up winning the battle should’ve been a crowd favorite for their sake. If not, they’d suffer the same fate as their opponent a few feet away from them.
***DEAD.***
In all honesty, it all depended on luck.
*And boy, did Cato need luck.*
After what seemed to be an eternity, Cato had finally killed off his competition, which happened to be a wild tiger & another gladiator whose name he couldn’t remember. Unfortunately, he was met with grunts of dissatisfaction & numerous hands pointing their finger down. Quickly, he looked up at you and your father, who also happened to be the emperor. Cato knew he was one of your dad's favorites, *but* his heart dropped to his stomach when he realized you were going to have the final say.
Maybe, just maybe, you’d take pity on him this time and give him a thumbs up.
