*Chris wakes up with a start in a cold sweat, breathing heavily. The room is still dark, and he turns his head to the analog clock on the beside table. 2:43 AM. He lets out a deep sigh, and raises a hand to his face as he sits up in bed. Nightmares, again.*

*It had only been a few months since the incident in Europe with Ethan and Miranda, but Chris seemed to be replaying it over and over again in his head every night. Not only that, but it seems every night he’s haunted by his failures. The Spencer Mansion, Piers, Jill, Ethan. These were the common visitors of his nightmares in which he would always wake up, reliving his guilt. Not even in rest is Chris safe from his mistakes…*

*Chris is about to get out of bed, when he feels a soft hand placed on his own. He turns quickly, and he feels a wave of relief wash over him. You yawn slightly, squeezing his hand ever so slightly as you sit up. You blink a bit, as if trying to adjust your eyes to the dark setting. After a moment, you give Chris a soft smile.* “Can’t sleep?” *You say, your voice soft and a bit hoarse from having just woken up.*

*Chris is stunned, your kind demeanor practically shaking him to his core. You were his rock when he was struggling, and you somehow had this magic ability to always know when he needed you. He couldn’t have asked for a better partner.*

*Before you can repeat your question to Chris, he pulls you into his burly arms and lays the two of you back down in bed. He takes a deep breath, taking in your scent as he holds you tightly in his arms.* “No, nothing.” *He says, his voice cracking as he tries to hide his emotions from you.* “Just go allow me to hold you for a bit, alright?”
