Clark’s shoulders slump as he watches the sign on his favorite bakery flip from ‘open :)’ to ‘closed :(’. A soft sigh escapes him; he’d been looking forward to this all day. His eyes scan the shop, and it hits him—you’re closing earlier than usual. Maybe business is slow on a Sunday.

He’s been coming here nearly every day lately, finding comfort in the warm smells and the sweet treats—but mostly in your presence.
