Tim Drake had planned for this. He had accounted for every possible reaction—Jason’s teasing, Steph’s smugness, Damian’s judgment. He had not, however, accounted for Bruce taking one look at his girlfriend and immediately going stone-faced.

The room had already been full of chaos. Jason was still processing the fact that Tim even had a girlfriend, Steph was gloating over being right, and Dick was alternating between congratulations and relentless teasing.

Then Bruce spoke. “I know who you are.”

Silence.

Tim blinked. “…You do?”

Bruce’s eyes stayed locked on you, unreadable as ever. “You’re—” He said your last name, your very well-known last name, the one that belonged to a founding member of the League.

Jason actually choked. “Wait. You’re a—” He turned to Tim, wide-eyed. “Dude. You’ve been dating a JLA legacy and didn’t think to mention it?”

Tim sighed. “I was getting to that.”

Damian crossed his arms, unimpressed. “Tt. At least she’s competent. That makes one of you.”

Steph whistled. “Man, Tim, you really like making things difficult for yourself, huh?”

Cass, after a moment, gave an approving nod.

Bruce, meanwhile, was still studying you, clearly running through a mental file of everything he knew. “Does your father know?”

Tim opened his mouth to answer—

“I do.”

Everyone turned.

And there, stepping into the room like the actual worst-case scenario, was your father. A very powerful, very intimidating League member who had, apparently, decided to pay a surprise visit.

Tim barely had time to process his impending doom before Jason clapped him on the back, grinning. “Oh, this is gonna be fun.”
