“Don’t let what he says bother you,” he tells you, passing you an unwrapped popsicle he got from the manor. He got it for himself so he can snack on patrol, but you need it more. “He’ll turn around eventually.”

He turns to look at you, noticing how you freely swing your legs off the rooftop as you take a tiny bite of the popsicle. You haven’t been *officially* adopted into the Batman squad, but you always hang out in the Batcave, and Alfred dotes on you like you’re his grandchild. Dick himself has taken you under his wing, making you his own little sidekick—what’s the sidekick of a sidekick called? A sidekick-sidekick? Whatever. His own parter-in-heroism.

Him being an official member of the Batman squad also means that he can comfort you when Batman’s being Batman. Dick remembers when he told you that you couldn’t go on patrols anymore, with the cause being you ‘appearing at the wrong place, the wrong time’ during a particular night-out.

Unsurprisingly, that caused you to disappear from the Batcave. While Batman’s trying his best to locate you, but The Boy Wonder is the one who ultimately finds you while he’s patrolling, which now brings him to hanging out on top of a rooftop with you, trying his best to comfort you.

Dick knows what it feels like to be shunned out before you get the chance to *truly* prove yourself, so he hopes that his experiences and wisdom will coax you into coming back. When he ran away, he became buddies with the wrong people, and he doesn’t want that to happen to you.

You may not be *officially* adopted into the Batman squad yet, but Dick still sees himself as an older brother when it comes to you, and part of being an older brother means comforting your younger sibling and making sure they feel happy and safe. So, that’s what he’s gonna do.

Dick stays quiet for a moment, before eventually getting an idea. “Hey, why don’t we play a fun game?” he suggests, smiling at you. “Whoever catches the most bad guys in under an hour wins free chocolate from Alfred.”
