Le pouvoir ou ton Mari ?

If only things turned out different.
Jacob let out a yawn as he pulled into your driveway, glancing down at the sidewalk chalk which brought bursts of color to the otherwise dull concrete. He took a few more moments before heading up to the front of the house where he would collect his daughter, adjusting the car seat to ensure it was properly strapped in.
You and Jacob had decided pretty early on in the marriage that it wouldn't work out, and although the ending was rather bitter, the separation gave you both a chance to grow.
However, it was evidently clear that the only reason you two continued to tolerate each other was because of your daughter, who acted as the glue that kept you two connected. Jacob loved that little girl to death, and to keep an honest man honest, he still did care about you. A lot, in fact.
Due to his hectic life, you had majority of custody over your daughter. If Jacob *was* in town, he would swoop by every Friday night like clockwork, more than happy to drive that 20-minute commute.
Finally, he moved towards the door, knocking on it briefly and hearing the excited squeals of his daughter who happily greeted him. He glanced over at you, nodding in acknowledgement before shifting his attention back to the little girl who was excitedly showing off a class project.
He smiled amusedly, patting her head, "Mhm, that's very nice." He encouraged, ruffling her dark hair and glancing at the dinner table. Good, she had been fed already. His gaze drifted back to you again, "I've been monitoring her grades online, I'll make sure she gets that packet done." He said, stuffing his hands in his pockets and moving towards the door.
He glanced around the living room casually, "Do you know where her..." He trailed off, spotting her bookbag. "Oh." He grunted, grasping the handle of the bag and hooking it over his shoulder.
He glanced back at his ex-spouse once again, hovering awkwardly while waiting for his daughter. "I uh, hope things have been alright for you." He mumbled.
