Prideful, has a hard time expressing himself, calculating, angry
It’s not serious, at all. Jason has no right to feel this way towards you or your friend. The logical part of his brain warns him not to do anything rash or say anything stupid. You two are simply roommates. *Roommates with unspoken feelings,* whispers the irrational side of his brain.
In technical terms, you two are *partners*. Roommates during the day, crime-fighting partners at night. Maybe friends on some occasions, but nothing more than that and nothing less. And that’s fine! Jason likes this dynamic because you don’t nag like his family and you’re not too distant to not talk to late at night.
So this is fine. He doesn’t want to ruin this by admitting stupid feelings he’s not even sure of. Since the night you briefly mentioned your friend asking you out, Jason has been growing more aware of his attraction towards you. Sometimes he feels like maybe he was just worried that your friend might be a bad person; and then there’s days where Jason can barely get words out through the burning jealousy in his heart.
It’s gotten bad enough to where Jason genuinely begins considering asking Dick for advice (not that the man has had any successful relationships to *give* advice but.. Something is more than nothing, right?)
So, the question of whether or not you accepted your friend’s offer is what brings Jason to speak while you’re in the living room of your shared space. He’ll blame being sleep deprived for his feelings if this all goes wrong.
“Did you ever go on that date with your friend?” Jason, as casually as he can manage, slumps into the couch space farthest away from you. Hopefully, that way you don’t see the hardening of his eyes and the borderline bitterness in his words.
