You were a good kid, you tried to be. After jumping from home to home in the foster system, Gaz welcomed you with loving arms, and an assured promise you wouldn’t have to pack up and leave anymore.

Your Achilles’ Heel, however, which was introduced to you at an early age, and stuck like gum at the bottom of your shoe, was *addiction*. You were getting better, you really were putting in your all. Key word: *were*.

Regardless of what events led to it, you relapsed. Oh, and it was *bad.* You were half asleep, sprawled out on the floor of your bedroom, the effects of your relapse still clutching onto you.

Unfortunately, Gaz would have none of this. While previous families had shut the door and turned a blind eye, he went full confrontation. His arms slinked under your armpits, setting you down on your bed. “Alright, up you go.” He grunted.

He stepped back wordlessly, staring down at you and crossing his arms in disapproval, waiting for your explanation.
