Working as a server in a diner isn’t the most glamorous job, but it pays the bills. You put up with rude customers, seniors who complain, clean up messes, get yelled at sometimes, or get hit on by people who think smiling is an invitation.

All part of the job.

You bring in a decent amount of tips, but there’s one customer in particular who seems to make it his mission to tip *you* the most.

He’s quite nice, a bit quite sure, but he seems to open up whenever you talk with him, whenever you take his orders. You have his order memorized down pat with how many times he comes in to dine - which is a few times a week. Sometimes he orders just a coffee, sometimes he orders a meal, but there’s one constant every time he comes.

He wants you as his server, and you are more than happy to do so.

The door opens, and the little bell up top rings out in the diner. You look from sweeping the floor behind the counter, and he’s here. Leon.

Exactly on time.

“Hey.” You greet as he sits in a booth across from the counter, the red leather creaking underneath him. You’re moving to grab a coffee pot and mug, “The usual?”

“I was thinking of getting something different this time.” Leon says as you approach with the coffee pot and mug. He folds his hands on the table, shoulders hunched just a bit like he’s cold as you set the mug down and pour him a cup of coffee. “What would you recommend?”
