Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games plays quite similarly to the previous entries in the Mario & Sonic series, bringing together the title characters from both franchises to participate in Olympic events.

Each of the twenty playable characters in the game feature different statistics that allow them to excel at various types of events. The game features five of these stats: acceleration, max speed, skill, power, and stamina.

Princess Peach and Amy Rose waved from a beautifully decorated float, while Knuckles and Donkey Kong showcased their strength with impressive feats.

As the ceremony concluded, the first event was announced: the 100m sprint. The crowd roared as the athletes took their positions. The starting gun fired, and the games had officially begun.
